A message from Julio Cesar Vasquez:

The world is everyday more beautiful

Cont.
Parallel with my studies of petroleum engineering I started drawings portraits in pencil, all of them taken from prints and after several years I could graduated as a petroleum engineer and also completed my gallery of portraits in pencil (1995). At that time I met my master Luis Barrera (Lubar) who thought me how to work with color and I could jump to the color: oil on canvas, water color, mural, etc.

The year after I started working in engineering projects but later on I got unemployed in La Dorada where I met another painter who encouraged me to paint and he borrow me a brush and some oil paintings. I did an auto portrait on a canvas that my aunt gave me 20 years before and which I didn’t have encourage to paint anything on there before. And in that year (1998) I also did a mural for the school where I finished high school.
After that, because of my engineering career, I decided to come to Houston, Texas, United States of America and I met here another painter who gave me example of realization. I bought all the materials and I did my first work called “The Return” and I started to do a work every semester as a goal; so I don’t pressure so much on me, get tired of it and dropped out. After 3 years I completed six works and after that every body and I started realizing that I am an artist, but that we have to show that to the world.

Now in the last two years is the people who have been encouraged me to paint more often. Now at the end of 2005 I have completed the whole gallery you are watching now (plus the another one I have in my studio in La Dorada).
Regardless my natural talent firs table I have learned how to paint is painting and secondly, I go to exhibitions, visit museums, read books about art, talk with others painters and people around me and the knowledge I have gathered my whole life.
My masters have been just two: Leonardo DVinci and Vincent Vangogh. The first one because his realism and the life shown in his paintings; and because he was an engineer too. The second one because he has given me the opportunity to start producing art works without need to be so accure in the photographic imitation but maintaining high vitality on them.

This paintings are the legacy I am going to leave to the humanity and have been the result of many years of self inner searching for find out the artist which finally has come out here in Houston, Texas, U.S.A. and showing to the world throughout this website.
I am still in evolution and this website is not jus because the purpose of a sale. It is because of helping in the way the people keep me in track about my works and what studies I am doing. “The best book has not been written yet and either the best painting hasn’t been done” I have to keep on going painting so my public doesn’t feel disfaithful about my artistic career and neither do I
